South Jordan Middle School is pleased to welcome Dr. Greg Hudnall to an evening discussion with parents, concerning teen suicide prevention. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, at 6:00pm in the KIVA at SJMS. This meeting is for Parents Only. Due to the sensitive information that will be presented, Dr. Hudnall asks that students not attend.
Dr. Hudnall is a former associate superintendent of the Provo City School District, where he also served as the District’s Suicide Prevention Specialist. He has been instrumental in creating the Utah County HOPE Task Force. More recently he has developed Hope4Utah.com, where he continues to focus on the prevention of teen suicide.
All parents and adult community members are invited to attend this important evening event.
Dear Parents of South Jordan Middle School Students
Due to overcrowding at South Jordan Middle School, Jordan School District has determined that permits for the 2014-15 school year will only be approved for siblings of current 7th- and 8th-grade students. All current permits to South Jordan Middle will still be honored next year. Again, current permits will NOT be revoked.
If you have questions, please call 801-567-8173.
(*Non-boundary residents no longer need to line up before school starts on December 2. Incoming students who currently have a sibling at SOJO for the 2014-15 school year will be accepted.)
We will be holding a School Community Council Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 5th. Dr. Anthony Godfrey will be sharing a short presentation on the boundary change process for Jordan School District. Attached is the agenda.
12-5-13 SCC AGENDA.
Thank you for all the wonderful entries turned in for the Reflections program this year. It was very difficult for the judges to choose which works would advance to the Regional level. The following students entries moved on-
Thursday, November 21 is our annual 9th Grade field trip to the Bingham High Musical. This year, the students will be see ing “Footloose”. Students will be missing a small portion of 1st Period, SPOT Intervention time, and 2nd Period. A letter was sent home outlining the activity and expectations for students. Please review the letter and reinforce expectations with your students. We are excited for our students to have this opportunity!
It is, once again, that amazing time of year when the weather cools down and the air is crisp. As members of the South Jordan Middle School community, we also think of this time of year as a time of giving. On November 19th, students from South Jordan Middle will make a trip to the Beehive Homes (facilities for the elderly) to visit and get to know the residents. We also present the residents with gifts. How can you help? The answer is simple: donate small (travel-sized) toiletries like soaps, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, shampoo, conditioner, mouth wash, as well as sets of playing cards, ankle socks, hand warmers, tissues, etc. Please keep these items small and travel-sized. Bring your donations to Ms. Abel’s room (Portable 8). Thank you for your generosity!
