Recruiting students through teachers

Dear Teachers:

It is time again to find new students for the Student Library Advisory Board. These students would meet with me once a quarter and read books that I am thinking about buying for the library. You know these kids better than I do. Would you please hand out these forms based on the following criteria:

1. The student reads above grade level.

2. The student reads quickly (finishes AR goals quickly and needs something else to do).

3. The student is very responsible.

4. The student treats people and materials with respect.

5. The student exhibits maturity in relationship to difficult or sensitive situations.

Be aware that the students will be reading books that I have not yet read. So, they may encounter language or situations that make them uncomfortable. I have explained that in the application. If a student encounters something like this, they may quit reading the book and still participate in the LAB. Finding books with problems like that is part of the purpose of the LAB.

If you have students you would like to recommend, please give them one of the applications. Would you also please email to me the names of the students you are giving applications to? If you need more applications, stop on by.

Thanks,

Mrs. Mitchell
